CHINA GIVES CONDITIONS FOR NIGERIA

Prof. Zhang Yong-Peng, a research fellow at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(CASS), in Beijing, China on Tuesday said that for more Chinese development assistance to be extended to Nigeria, both countries should become active partners. Yong-Peng told a Delegation of visiting Nigerian Journalists in Beijing, while making clarification on "The Belt and Silk Road: Creating New Development in Africa,'' that it was imperative for Nigeria to become more active with China. "China knows Nigeria as a major power in Africa and would continue to create more opportunities to access her development assistance and funds. Let me say that Nigeria can benefit a lot more from the Chinese government. MATA TO MISS REST OF THE SEASON

The Spain international had an operation last month but had hoped to play again this term. However, United boss Jose Mourinho confirmed the 28-year-old, who  joined from Chelsea  in January 2014, would not be fit until the end of May. Defenders Phil Jones and Chris Smalling will not return until mid-May, Mourinho added. The Premier League season ends on 21 May. Should United progress to the Europa League final, that match would be played in Stockholm on 24 May.

CHELSEA MOST BORING TEAM IN EPL

JOSE MOURINHO has branded Chelsea one of the most defensive teams in the country. The table toppers have been brutally efficient in their quest to claim the Premier League crown. But their former boss who faces them with his  Manchester United  side at Old Trafford tomorrow is hardly labelling them the new entertainers. Mourinho  said: "They have a certain style of play, they stick to it, they do it very well. "Not every team defends with 11 players, and they defend with 11 players."Not every team is so objective in their counter attacks. "They are very objective in the counter-attack and they have individual players out of the context of the game that can also resolve the problems. So they are a very strong team." Meanwhile, Mourinho   insists facing Chelsea  brings no extra emotion. "You say that word 'emotion'," the United boss said when asked how his emotions differ after two high-octane meetings in the capital. "For me, it is just a

GRIEZMANN DOESN'T NEED TO LEAVE ATLETICO-TORRES

Fernando Torres has told the BBC that his teammate Antoine Griezmann doesn't need to move clubs in order to realise his full potential. In the interview with Football Focus, Torres says: "Where are you going to go to improve what you have in Atletico?" he said. "Not many places in the world. I hope he can stay with us forever." Griezmann scored the equaliser last weekend's derby against Real Madrid, and followed that up with the  winner from the penalty spot against Leicester in the Champions League  in mid-week, meaning his already soaring stock is higher than ever, with rumours of  mega-offers from several clubs, in particular Manchester United, swirling around the French international. But Torres, back at his childhood club, doesn't see the need for Griezmann to take up the possibility of moving. "It's normal when young players become one of the best in the world, everyone wants to sign them, you can go to many other places in the world  but

IMPUNITY OF PADDED VOTES

POLITICS is war by another means.  The process of voting to choose leaders and representatives is a battle in the larger front of the war theatre. The means employed are diverse and are either pristine or crude both in concept and execution in the struggle to gain primacy over the opposition.  To many, laws or regulations are either observed in the breach or repudiated to feather a particular nest.  In some cases, counsel for some parties to a contentious petition before an election tribunal adopt belligerent postures and tactics to harass, embarrass and finally mislead witnesses to gain undue advantage and prominence especially when such counsel are bereft of ideas in a particular circumstance. Without dabbling into the core issues before any election petition tribunal for adjudication, one will dwell on those issues that drive elections in the country and that were singularly thrown up in the public court of opinion by the Edo State Governorship Election of September 28, 2016, whic

To me, the Igbos are highly accepted in this country. Forget about the civil war because most countries also passed through the same road, even the United States. ”So, we must forget about the past and move ahead. If you look at it democratically, the Igbos have never at a time said they want to leave Nigeria”, he

DANKWAMBO SECURES GOMBE's FUTURE

A country or society with greater productive youths is a wealthy one in deed. This is because, youths are the stronghold of every society; they are the pillars upon which every society solely depends on as they constitute the major workforce, the engine room of a people. However, a society that fails to invest and build upon the youths will eventually turn to a decrepit, unproductive and even, a moribund one without future. Such a society, soon, retire into extinction and oblivion. In Gombe state, Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo fully understands the indispensable place of the youths to nation building and hence, has taken no time to make youth empowerment the crust of his administration. No contemporary leader has done so much in Gombe State in youth empowerment and poverty alleviation within a very short period of time as Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has done. His administration also took a very bold developmental step, the first of its kind in the state, as the administration cr

WHY MEN HAVE RAZOR BUMPS AFTER SHAVING

Genetic. Most black men have razor bumps to white men even after using the best after shave, while some black men have never sighted a bump on their body before, its just the way it is. 2. Hair Type Believe it OR not, your hair type matters a lot when it comes to shaving, curly hair have been known to have bumps mostly than other hair types, after curly hair comes the tough hairs then the straight hair 3. Skin Type Most skin are just sensitive if is not razor bumps then is another irritation entirely. 4. Direction of Shave Start with the sides, then the mustache area and last the chin. The chin hairs are the toughest, so this allows them the most time to soften under the shave cream. Shaving against the direction of hair growth gives a closer shave, but has three drawbacks: A. It’s a good way to donate blood B. It’s the leading cause of razor burn, skin rash & skin irritation, and C. You run a high risk of cutting off a hair below skin level, causing an ingrown hair (ra

EROSION HITS ROAD LINKING ZIK ’s HOME IN NSUKKA

The federal road linking the home of the late President of Nigeria and Owelle of Onitsha, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, has now become impassable due to erosion menace which cut the road into two; few metres to the Onuiyi Haven residence of the late sage. As a result of the development, the house which was easily accessed from Odenigbo Roundabout, Nsukka, is now isolated from the neighbourhood. Onnoghen, who disclosed this after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in the Presidential Villa, described the assertion as mere speculations. The CJN also said that the judiciary was behind the fight with all sense of responsibility. “If there was steam then it wouldn’t happen without the participation of the judiciary. So, if there is losing of steam you should not only equate it to the judiciary. “The fight against corruption has lost no steam. It is not correct. Now, you should know one thing: two people will always have a quarrel. ‘’They may be three or four or one hundred. All the parties to that quarrel will always have different stories to tell. “By the way our system is fashioned and designed and operated, when you go to a court of law, you cannot have a drawn game. “There must
