A five-month-old baby has been reportedly killed and several others injured after an official of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority attempted to arrest a commercial bus driver for violating the traffic law around the Awoyokun end of Ikorodu Road.The culprit was said to be among a team of traffic officials from the LASTMA's Anthony office. The driver of a 2010 Toyota Camry and his female companion were on Tuesday burnt to death in a road crash in Abuja.The identities of the victims could not be immediately ascertained, but the accident was said to have happened around 12.45am at the Central Business District.The car appeared to have been on high speed when it lost control, hit a tree and burst into flames. The Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, SIRT have arrested a Lance Corporal of the Nigeria Army stationed in Borno state, for allegedly supplying arms and ammunition to robbers in Lagos.According to a report byVanguard, the unidentified Lance corporal was arrested alongside members of a robbery gang that raided commercial banks in Lekki, Ikorodu, Festac and Agbara areas of Lagos and Ogun State recently.The suspects were picked up at various locations in Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Borno states, respectively, by the SIRT operatives, led by CSP Abba Kyari, and officials of the Defense Intelligence.Items recovered from the robbers include an automatic pump action rifles, a pistol and some cartridges. The decision of Deposit Money Banks, DMBs, to place a restriction on the use of ATM cards abroad by bank customers is due to scarcity of foreign exchange, the CBN has said.The CBN said although it sympathizes with Nigerians for the sufferings they are experiencing in carrying out transactions abroad, it can't reverse the decision of DMBs and the CBN is in support of it as it would assist in reducing the pressure on the Naira.The Director, Monetary Policy Department, CBN, Mr. Moses Tule, explained that the restriction might continue until Nigeria could increase its foreign exchange earnings.
