2019: ATIKU, MARK, SARAKI, TAMBUWAL, OTHERS IN THE FIRST FACE OF PDP SCREENING

As the preparations for the 2019 general elections hot up, presidential aspirants under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Monday undergone screening processes in preparations for its primaries holding early next month.

Those who went through the exercise on Monday include Senator Bukola Saraki, Dr Datti-Baba Ahmed, Senator Jonas Jang, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Alhaji Taminu Turaki, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, Alhaji Attaihiru Bafarawa, Senator David Mark and Alhaji Sule Lamido.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the exercise, which took place at the Presidential Campaign office of the Party in Abuja, the aspirants, including Atiku, Tambuwal, Mark, Jang, Saraki described the exercise as free, fair and friendly. 
 
They expressed confidence in the 10-man committee headed by a one time Vice President Namidi Sambo of coming up with the strict and objective outcome.
 
On his part, the former Senate President, Senate David Mark, stated that the exercise went on smoothly and urged the leadership of the Party to continue in that direction.

 The Aspirants also lashed out at the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC over the Osun state governorship election and it to immediately announced the winner of the election.
 
The exercise is expected to continue this morning for other Aspirants could not make it yesterday.

Barcelona report La Liga president

Barcelona have reported La Liga president Javier Tebas to Spain's highest sports court after he questioned their players' conduct during a heated 3-2 win at Valencia. The hosts were fined 1,500 euros (£1,340) after a water bottle was thrown from the stands at players. But the disciplinary committee also criticised the "reproachable behaviour" of the celebrating Barcelona players. The Catalan club said these declarations were "irresponsible". "The most serious thing is the thrown bottle, but some players acted in a way we don't like," Tebas said after the incident, also suggesting Barcelona players provoked Valencia fans.
