BWARI CRISIS – ESU BWARI

As a traditional ruler, our major role in our community is to maintain peace and avert crisis of any form.

Bwari as a town under my control, is noted to be the most peaceful, crime free town in the FCT and we are going to continue to work towards maintaining same.

Several misunderstandings in my domain that could have led to different types of crises in the town have been curtailed through my closeness to the residents - whether you are a native or not, Muslim or Christian.

However, relevant authorities must come in to address the present situation in my chiefdom, where two chiefs exist before it degenerates into chaos.

Recently, we received an invitation that Alhaji Musa Ijakoro wanted to celebrate 40th years anniversary as Sarki of Bwari. My subjects wrote to me and the authority that such celebration would degenerate into crisis but I prevailed on them to allow the authority to handle the situation.

The fact is, how can two chiefs co-exist in a small chiefdom like Bwari.?

Ijakoro came from a village in Ijakoro in Niger State, he was sent here as a tax collector so how can he now be claiming to be a traditional ruler.

I am the 17th Chief of Bwari and all the 17 district heads and about 80 village heads in the chiefdom pay their allegiance to me, so relevant authorities must wake up and address the situation before it gets out of hand.

People of Bwari are traditionally farmers, have you been experiencing herder/farmer clashes in your chiefdom and, how have you been addressing such crisis?

As I told you earlier, we are peace loving people and we are doing everything to maintain peace with everyone irrespective of your occupation, tribe, religion and so on.

However, in some occasions, we do experience such crisis and when it happens, we call both the herder involved and the farmer and settle them.

I always ask my subjects to report such incidents to the relevant authorities instead of taking the law into their hands. And luckily for us the herders, too are not giving us much headache.

But government must come to our aid by making farm inputs and implements available to our farmers to make farming easy and attract more participation in it.

You were a delegate to the last national conference, how do you want this present administration to treat its report?
Well, many far-reaching resolutions were arrived at at the conference, which I believe would help to unite the country and as such the present administration should consider its implementation.
