POLICE ARRAIGNS WOMAN OVER ABDUCTION

An Officer of the Nigeria Police, Ondo State Command  has arraigned a suspect, Toyin Akinsiku who allegedly masterminded the abduction of the two teenage girls who were allegedly raped, tortured and videotaped in Ondo town.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the development to our correspondent at the weekend said the suspect was arraigned on a two-count charge of kidnapping and abduction at an Ondo State Magistrate Court in the town.
Akinsiku, who is the wife of one of the rape suspects already remanded in prison custody over the crime, was arrested by the police for allegedly organizing the kidnap of the two raped teenagers.
The two teenage girls, Glory and Idowu were allegedly raped and tortured by five suspects who included : Bode Akinsiku, Olabanji Femi, Abiodun Ayodele, Fadairo Wahab, and Adedayo Adebayo. The video of the acts was allegedly posted on the Facebook and other social media platforms by the five suspects.
The victims alleged that Akinsiku and one Mrs. Imole arranged their abduction from Ondo town and took them to an unidentified woman in Igbekodo town in Lagos State, who used them for prostitution and menial jobs for several weeks, before the girls later escaped from the ‘captivity’ and returned to their parents in Ondo.
The PPRO said the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju and other relevant organizations were interested in the case, expressing assurance that all the suspects would be brought to justice.
He said, ” The suspect (Akinsiku) has been arraigned before the Magistrate Court in Ondo, she was charged for kidnapping, but she has been granted bail of one million naira with two sureties  in like sum who must be civil servants and the case has been adjourned till July 12, 2018.”
Joseph also said the command is still on the trail of the second suspect, Mrs. Imole, who he said had allegedly fled the town apparently to evade arrest.

UNILORIN PRODUCES 89 FIRST CLASS GRADUATES

Prof. AbduGaniyu Ambali, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin, said on Friday that the institution had produced a total of 89 first class graduates for the 2016/2017 academic session.  The Vice-Chancellor made this disclosure in Ilorin on the occasion of a handover and valedictory press conference,  which signaled the commencement of the 33rd convocation ceremonies of the university.
