MEASURES TO STOP CLASHES BETWEEN KILLER HERDSMEN AND FARMERS - OBASANJO

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo went to the graves of victims of herdsmen killing in Benue State with a call on Nigerian Leaders to work harder in tackling the continuous violent clashes between farmers and herdsmen across the nation.

He further lamented that the continued violence and insurgency needs immediate collaboration and collective urgent attention, stressing that tackling security challenges must begin from the root to secure permanent solutions to this issues at hand.

According to him, if this issue is not addressed immediately from the root, more and more citizens will be buried as victims.

"If the issue is tackled right from the root there will be no room for assumptions. We must collectively find solutions to this problem as one nation," he said.

Olusegun Obasanjo sufficiently express his sorrow, empathy and sympathy towards the affected families that lost the souls of their loved ones, the governor, the people of the state and Nigerians at large.

Obasanjo said that he was shocked to hear that after the mass burial of Benue victims, another 83 more persons were massacred by the same herdsmen.

He disclosed that he had attended the Zero Hunger meeting which Gov. Samuel Ortom couldn't attend because of the so called herdsmen attacking his subjects.

He lamented that there will be no investment and development in such chaotic environment because investors would be unwilling to to waste their resources in such areas.

Obasanjo called for an end to the ongoing attacks of farmers by the herdsmen, appealing the governor not to give because "there would surely be light at the end of the tunnel."

He also said that the  federal government should take drastic measures to end this blood shedding of innocent souls by the herdsmen.
