Police arrest 21 kidnappers, robbers in Benue


The Police arrested 21 suspects in connection with armed robbery, kidnapping and cultism from different areas of Benue State.
State Police Commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, said at a new briefing in Makurdi yesterday that the feat was achieved within the past two weeks.

Of the number of suspects arrested, the commissioner said four were being held for robbery, another four for kidnapping and 13 for cultism while two others alleged armed robbers died in the course of exchanging gunfire with the police.

Owoseni listed items recovered from the suspects to include; four rifles made up of three AK47 and IG-3, three AK47 magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition, one dane gun, nine sets of Army Camouflage uniform and three Toyota cars.

The commissioner added that adequate security measures including police visibility have been put in place for a hitch free Sallah celebrations as he enjoined the public to report suspicious persons to the police.

CBN Says It Can’t Reverse The Ban On ATM Card Use Abroad

The decision of Deposit Money Banks, DMBs, to place a restriction on the use of ATM cards abroad by bank customers is due to scarcity of foreign exchange, the CBN has said.The CBN said although it sympathizes with Nigerians for the sufferings they are experiencing in carrying out transactions abroad, it can't reverse the decision of DMBs and the CBN is in support of it as it would assist in reducing the pressure on the Naira.The Director, Monetary Policy Department, CBN, Mr. Moses Tule, explained that the restriction might continue until Nigeria could increase its foreign exchange earnings. He said if banks had not taken the decision to restrict the use of the ATM cards abroad, some of them would current be experiencing challenges meeting the overseas demand of their customers.May GOD help Us..
