A drug addict allegedly threw his four-year-old son to death in the capital’s Matuil area on Sunday evening.
Police arrested the father, Enamul Hoque, over the killing of Shahin from the spot, said officer-in-charge of Jatrabari Police Station Anisur Rahman.
Tanjina, elder sister of the ill-fated boy and a garment worker, said his father is a drug addict. When she returned home at Paschimpara Kazirgaon from her workplace in the evening, she saw her little brother lying on the ground with serious injuries.
“Neighbours told me that my father threw Shahin into the ground, leaving him injured,” she said, adding that he was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the minor boy succumbed to his injuries around 7:30 pm.
The body was kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
