ICYMI: Nigeria Retains U-17 WorldCup Trophy

Nigeria won their fifth ever U-17 FIFA world cup trophy and dashed Mali's hopes of winning the tournament for the first time, thanks to a 2-0 win.Moments of brilliance from the Golden Eaglets in the second half sealed the deal for Nigeria, as goals from Victor Osimhen and Funsho Bamgboye helped Nigeria to a recordfifth title and the second country tosuccessfully defend it after Brazil.As early as the third minute, Nigeriawere handed a penalty for a handball in the Mali box. But SamuelDiarra denied Osinachi Ebere and his rebound was headed onto the crossbar.However Nigeria were determined to be crowned champions, as Victor Osimhen found the back of the net in the second half for the record 10th time. Making him the first player to score in every match of thecompetition.Three minutes later, Funsho Bamgboye put the game beyond Mali, with a vicious shot to get Nigeria's second of the night.A late gasp at a revival from Mali was easily thwarted by the U-17 boys, as they kept their cool till the final whistle.Congratulations to the future of Nigerian football.
